Useful falls of rain over the local supply areas reduced the number of cattle at Dalby by 2,126 head to 3,921. A good sample of 823 head from far Western Queensland and 88 from New South Wales plus 25 head from South Australia were included in the lineup. The export buying panel included some southern processors however one major Queensland exporter was absent from the buying panel. The regular feed and trade buyers were present and active in the market.

Most classes at the time of this interim report have sold to a firm to dearer market. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed were noticeably dearer and most classes of cows improved in price.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold to 388c to average 366c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 371c with sales to 390c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 297c and made to 340c/kg. A good sample of heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 355c to average 330c/kg.

A small selection of bullocks made to 358c to average 354c/kg. Heavy export heifers made to 348c to average 338c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 260c to average 249c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 286c and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 318c a good sample averaging 307c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 278c/kg.
